Why you are not getting what you want

Why are you not getting what you want?  The alcoholic/addict is not changing; in fact they appear to be getting worse. The question should not be, “What is wrong with this picture?” but “What is the truth in this picture?” And the truth is, the person has an addiction.

The disease of alcoholism gets worse before it gets better.  The majority of alcoholics/addicts need professional help.  It may seem easy to you to stop, walk away, or just quit.  For the alcoholic/addict they may want to just quit, but by this time they are both psychologically and physically dependent upon the substance.  It will take more than just stopping the drug or alcohol use for an addict.

Their use has become a habit they heavily depend on and they feel that they cannot live without.  It is not an easy thing to give up, even for the person you love and care about.
